Teresa Davies

Teresa Davies
Teresa has loved to draw and paint since she was a child. Growing up Teresa felt that she saw the world differently than others like shadows and the way the sunlight hit different things and changed the moods of her surroundings. Teresa has always been influenced by the great outdoors with her childhood spent in the Scugog region which allowed her endless painting reference. A sketch book, easel and paints were always nearby.
In her mid 20’s she had a pause in painting as children occupied her life for many years and the arts took the backburner.
Teresa was introduced to Algonquin Park 16 years ago where she purchased a trailer on Lake St Peter near the East Gates of Algonquin. Beautiful Algonquin Park has influenced so many artists in the past and captured Teresa as well. The passion was once again flowing through her veins. Teresa is always out there to see the beautiful surroundings and try to bring that feeling into her paintings. She concentrated mostly on landscapes until the last few years she started to add wildlife.
While dropping paintings to a show in Toronto, Teresa saw a deer beside the DVP trapped but seemingly oblivious to its surroundings. She was shocked at the plight of the deer in the city and saw two more on her way home. This started a new series for Teresa as she tries to get her message across about the urban plight of our wildlife trying to cohabitate with the city and humans.
The art journey continues for Teresa. With little art training in high school and college she considers herself self-taught and is most comfortable working in acrylic and watercolour.
Teresa is a proud member of the WAAC, ECOAA, OAA and the Scugog Council of the Arts.
