Paul Laberge

Paul Joseph Laberge, B.A., B.F.A.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Paul has been an on again, off again professional artist since the middle 70’s. After completing a BA degree in classic languages, and a BFA in Painting and Graphic Design, he faced the challenges of making a living and raising a family in small town Ontario.
As an artist, the first thing he had to do was unlearn everything he had been taught in Art School ( all everybody did in the program was stripes, and more stripes, a la Molinari…). So starting afresh and mostly self-taught, he learned from the Masters and from experience what worked and what didn’t.
A long-time member of the Merrickville Artists Guild, and a member of the Artists Co-op, The Grotto Artworks, until its demise at the start of the Covid Pandemic, Paul represents the beauty and majesty of creation and the Creator, through the fusion of acrylics and water fluidity, contrasted to the solidity of stone and the life force of nature.
